Graduate Research Assistant

University of California, Merced

August 2018 - Present

Design, Develop and Evaluate large scale data processing algorithms

Working as a research assistant with Professor Florin Rusu to identify the limitations of traditional large-scale data processing algorithms. We evaluate how different statistics impacts in decision making process in algorithms. Specifically

  • Estimating the cardinality of the database query.
  • Evaluate the impact of cardinality estimates during join-ordering decisions and overall query processing.
  • Design and develop algorithms to minimize optimization time.
  • Impacts of hardware, i.e., CPU/GPU in query processing.

Graduate Teaching Assistant

University of California, Merced

August 2018 - December 2020

Mentor and Evaluate

I worked as a teaching assistant and guest lecturer for the Database Systems course for Fall 2018 to Fall 2020. My responsibility includes

  • Arrange discussion sessions to re-iterate core concepts.
  • Provide feedback on the Projects design and implementation process.
  • Evaluate students' Projects, Labs, and assignments.
  • Arranging one-to-one discussions with students requires further help.
